Jess Zuber joined the College of Charleston as the Director of the Center for Academic Performance and Persistence in May 2021. She earned a Master’s in Counseling and Bachelor’s in Psychology from Kean University and brings with her varied experience in higher education. Her most recent position was the Associate Director of Advising, Career and Transfer Services at Union County College in New Jersey.
Jess is a student-centered professional and fierce advocate for equity and inclusion with experience working with a variety of students from first generation, underrepresented students, as well as nontraditional populations. She has worked in Student Affairs for over six years in many capacities and has been an integral piece of many student success initiatives. These initiatives include academic advising with guided pathways, welcoming new students through orientation programming, teaching first year seminar and using technology to support enrollment initiatives. Her true passion and purpose is guiding and empowering students through educational and life obstacles to achieve their goals and dreams.
